Five transparent calculations connect geometry, force, heat and productivity. Every result keeps its units, assumptions and source basis close.

Clamp-force estimate

Pressure acting over projected area produces a separating force. Use the projected area of all cavities and runners relevant to the parting plane. The pressure is an assumed mean cavity pressure, not the machine's hydraulic or screw-tip pressure.

Calculated estimateChange an input to explore
F_kN = 0.1 × P_MPa × A_cm² × factor

Effect of changing mean cavity pressure, with other inputs held constant.

Read the assumptions
  • Uniform representative cavity pressure.
  • Simple mould geometry and a user-chosen multiplier.
  • Does not select a press or prescribe its clamp setting.

Useful estimates start with good definitions.

Cavity pressure differs from hydraulic pressure. Melt density differs from solid density. A cooling-time estimate differs from the full cycle time. Treat these labs as a way to understand relationships, then validate inputs and results against the material, tooling and machine in use.
